Florida Keys Watercolor Society

A Little History

The Florida Keys Watercolor Society was founded over 20 years ago by seven Marathon Artists.  These charter members began the organization for the sole purpose of bringing art to the public, through the forum of an annual exhibit.  The Society was formed to develop a special group dedicated to advancing watercolor art.  To further advance the skills of the members, annual workshops were organized and conducted by nationally known and acclaimed artist/teachers.  The organization has grown to over 75 members located throughout the island chain, from Key Largo to Key West, creating an active group of local artists.

As the Annual Exhibit grew, the members determined that to keep the show unique, they insisted that all paintings must be new and not previously shown in Monroe County.  This policy has continued to date. Each year, we look forward to extraordinary watercolor paintings for everyone to enjoy at the Marathon Community Theater.
