A note from Sandy Saylor
Hi All,
A  list of winners from the show is under the Events page on our Website.
I think this is one of the best shows I've seen at the theater. I am very
happy to be part of a group of such accomplished
artists. Thank you all for all of your work in showing
and all the work of setting up, the programs, sponsors
and the reception. You all should be proud of the work
you have done.

Thank you one and all!

Sandy
December 21

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Seasons
Greetings!!!

I hope you are all having a festive Holiday season and
that all your families are well.

A couple of reminders:

To enter a painting for the raffle, remember you
must bring the painting with a photo to the January
Meeting at 10 am on Jan 12th. We will be voting on the
painting then.

Is there anyone who would like to do munchies for
the January meeting? Please let me know.

Remember the new rule that everyone must do a job
to be able to hang in the show. Bringing munchies for
a meeting would count. There are still other jobs to
be done, most are small jobs but they need to be done.
Please contact me.

I will have a rough draft of the cookbook for the
January meeting and this will be your last opportunity
to contribute this year.

Enjoy the Holidays!!

Sandy

            Welcome to Fall you all!

I am                      I am sending out the revised schedule for this upcoming year with some reminders about our new rules for submitting raffle paintings and show rules. I have a few jobs that need to be done and I am looking for volunteers.  Most of what is available are quick easy jobs. Please help YOUR organization work, we do depend on ALL of you.

I hope everyone has had a chance to do some painting or at least be creative this summer. Be on the look out for the info on the upcoming workshop

I have sent out info on what I need for the cookbook we are trying to produce. For those who have missed the emails I am sending this out by mail and a reminder that time is passing for sending in recipes and bios and photos. I have sent out a sample page. I am still in the gathering stage and suggestions are welcome as to how you want it set up. The idea behind it is to create an info package of the artists in the FKWS.  I need someone to write a short 1-2 page history of the organization. As well as recipes and info I could use any neat tips, household, art, cooking, etc to put as little quips throughout the book.

This cookbook is designed as a fund raiser to be sold to all your friends, family, cookbook collectors and art show patrons. The sooner I can get all the submissions the better. I want to have a mock up for the December meeting and have it available for the January meeting for sale along with the raffle tickets. But I will take submissions up until the December meeting. Anyone who wants to help me proof it, please let me know. I have always found the more sets of eyes looking at something the better.

We have one paint out scheduled, anyone who wants to come up with ideas, please contact me and we can get word out. I am looking forward to a fun year and I want to thank you all in advance for your help and enthusiasm.

Thank you,

July, 2008

It is now the middle of summer, where does the time go? Hopefully you are having a wonderful and creative summer. I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s work.  For those of you who don’t know me, I am Sandy Saylor your new president. I am new to painting and the Watercolor Society as of this past year, so I am really new but I plan on having a piece in the next show. I hope you are all working on something.  For those of you who have not made the last two meetings, there were a couple of changes that were voted on by those present. Those who want to exhibit in the show are required to volunteer and perform at least one function as well as attending one meeting.

We want everyone to participate from the small roles like planning the flowers for the reception to selling raffle tickets and show sitting (required if you are in the show). I realize that not everyone has time to do a large job but I have several small jobs that need to be filled. Just email me sddraig1@yahoo.com and I will be more than happy to find something. By the way, I joined FKWS last December and became President as of the end of April, so no one is too new to get involved! It is a great way to get to know your fellow members.

We have a change in the raffle selection as well. Remember it needs to be a tropical subject and half sheet in size. The selection will be done at the January meeting by the membership. This way we will have more time to sell raffle tickets, it is our fund raiser. I am also asking that you have a good picture of your painting you submit in either digital form or a photograph taken before it has been framed. This will cut down the time necessary for printing the flyers for the raffle.

            As your new president, I have started a project to create a cookbook by the members of FKWS combined with paintings and a bio of the artists to sell during the show and all year round. I have started to get some recipes and bios from a few members but I need more. I want at least 4 of your favorite recipes in appetizers, entrees, sides and desserts. They can be healthy or decadent. Any short memories about a favorite recipe like every time I make this Chili it reminds me of the New England fall and leaf changing of my childhood. It was my mother’s best dish, or my sister and I used to fight over who got to lick the spoon of Grandma’s chocolate cake. Please send all recipes, bios and artwork photos to sddraig1@yahoo.com or by snail mail;

Please get them to me by October 15th so I can have a good idea of where we are before the Dec meeting.

Any questions or comments email me, call me.

Thank you,

Sandy

A note from Judith Conner about the By Laws

Reminder from the Bylaws Committee................. June 2008

The Bylaws Committee asks that you please review the email (or letters in the case of those who don't have email) sent out on 16 June concerning the revision of the FKWS bylaws.  This is your opportunity to help update and bring the 1984 bylaws into this century.  A big thanks goes to those of you who have already responded.  For those who have not emailed but want your thoughts to be heard, send those comments to the Committee at judithconner@earthlink.net by August 1.

All comments will be compiled and a rough draft sent to your Board by the November Board meeting.  We  are hoping to have the final draft ready for vote at the January membership meeting.

This is YOUR watercolor society; we need the comments of all members.  Thanks.
A Note from the President - Recipe information
October 2008

Everyone I have talked to likes the idea of doing a cookbook. So we are going to go for it!!

    Here is what I need from everyone;

1- Recipes!!- I would love as many as you want to send so we can make sure we don't have duplicates. I would love 4- appetizer, entree, side dish and dessert.

2- a photo of at least one of your paintings- it doesn't have to be recent and a photo of you.

3- A short bio of what inspires you, how you got started, anything you would like. The whole idea is to create a personal cookbook and introduce ourselves and our work to the public.

4- If you have a story or favorite memory of your dish, eg: "Every time I make this soup it reminds me of my childhood and coming in from the snow." please send that as well, it is always interesting to people who collect cookbooks.

The next thing we need is a title! Send your ideas, we will come up with the best and vote.

The sooner I can receive everything the better. I would prefer all recipes, photos, etc by September 1, the final deadline is October 1st.

--If you can send by email, your the best!

-- If you can send it typed- your great!

-- If it is hand written, that is great too (please make sure it is readable)!

-- A photo copy works well too!!

I want this to be a fun project that everyone participates in.

Send it to;
